Meeting Minutes

Bring any additions or corrections to the February meeting.

On January 21st, 2013, Prairie Grange met for a informal meeting beginning at 6:30pm.  At 6:30 we enjoyed a wonderful potluck with food for all. This was our yearly dues paying potluck.

After dinner worthy master pro temp Adam Ellwanger led us in a short informal meeting downstairs.

The minutes from November and December were approved as written. There were no proposals for membership.

Committee reports: Ag report – no markets open.

Health, Education and Welfare – Make sure to get your flu shots, keep your hands washed and bundle up.

Community Service – We voted on the school to send our Box tops and Campbell’s soup labels. They will be split between Perry school in district 100 and Capron school in the North Boone school district. We have sent $699.61 in coupons to the air force base.

Sunshine – account has $114.50 and Jen would like to be notified if anyone is sick or gets married, etc…

Fairboard – We have confirmed Craig Morgan for Saturday night, there is a special meeting Tuesday night to discuss the Wednesday night show.

Communications: From Northern Illinois Farmland Protection Commission we received a Save the Date for the 2013 Farmland Preservation Conference. It will be held June 21-22 at the Boone County Community Building Complex.

From Rita Wurth we received the Illinois State Grange Scholarship application. The application needs to be postmarked by Feb 13th. Due date to Ruth is Feb 9th.

From member Jewel Alderton she is keeping up her dues and will be at Cor Mariae nursing home until April.

From member Kathy Emanuel she wishes to demit from our Grange.

From the Boone County Fair we received a receipt for our donation to the 4-H food stand.

Treasurer’s report: We brought in $55.00 selling leftover meat at the December meeting. Our bills for December were $432.00 for the chairs at Sam’s club. $329.00 on the meat for Christmas and $277.00 was spent on our Hometown Christmas family.

Unfinished business: We were supposed to auction off the Quilt that we won from Pomona Grange in November, but forgot. We decided to wait until the January meeting when everyone would have more money. The money for the quilt will go to helping fund the courtesy carts that we run during the fair. We are putting it off until the February meeting because attendance was low due to the cold.

New business:  Sara Ellwanger moved that we spend $50 on our raffle basket for the Pomona Chili fundraiser and Ruth gets to pick it up. Patti Lee seconded. Motion carried.

At the Fair Convention our Boone County Fair Queen did not place in the top 15. It was a good convention and Jack and Laurel Ratcliffe of Flora Grange were awarded with the Friends of the Fair award.

Ethel Lee has been moved to Northwoods.

Everyone present paid their dues for the year and Worthy Master pro temp Adam Ellwanger closed the meeting at 7:45 pm.

Fraternally submitted,

Karie Blasingame

Secretary Prairie Grange
